Outer Limits 4x4 Board

hey guys,
i was looking into putting 33" tyres on mi 1989 pajero nf but it looks like it would be a better idea if i put a 2" body lift on it with the 33" tyres can anyone tell me how a body lift works and how i can put it on and where to buy them from or what do i need to do this, and will 33" tyres be okay its a 3L v6 pajero nf 1989 from the fourmz i read lookes like it will cope but i wanna be sure before i go ahead and spend all this money and do it

i did all mi reseach on fitting a body lift and all that but how will it affect me 4wdin will it but mi pajero off balance because i was thinking it would cost a lot more but better to put a lift kit on it, or will a body lift be good 4 4wdin to

A body lift wont lift your certre point of gravity as much as suspension because it doesn't lift your drive line.
If you are putting bigger wheels on it is better because when the suspension flexes the tyres will rub when they go to bump stops. Ive had 32s on mine for a bit with a body lift full flex and no rubbing but before they rubbed under flex.

okay m8 so you would recommend a body lift rather than a lift kit, its much cheaper to i just dun no where to get them in perth:( you got any idea m8

no1 makes a bodylift for mitsubishis, snake racing make bodylift kits for nissan and toyota but i havnt found someone that makes it for pajero's. A bodylift is a cheap way to fit bigger tyres on your car without having to cut away body... the easiest way to do it is to get some hi density nylon rod (i'm pretty sure for gen 1 paj's its 60mm diameter) get that cut to the size of the bodylift you want.. buy some high tensile bolts and spring washers or nyloc nuts (i'm pretty sure i put 10mm bolts in mine) dont forget the higher you go the more you have to modify (eg. i had to replace the clutch fan with a thermo, extend radiator hoses, heater hoses, cut some the body out around the gear sticks so i cud get reverse an low range, get a new steering rod, extend fuel hoses, the fuel filler pipe has to be extended... etc..) btw... were you expecting to do this bodylift by yourself?? is this the first time you have done one??

also because you are a petrol pajero if you are not happy with how the car drives with bigger tyres eg. sluggish off the mark... you can put the diesel diff ratios into your diffs... the 2.3TD pajero came out with 4.875 diff ratios while the petrol pajeros were in your case i think you have a 3.0L V6??? they are 4.625... by changing the diff ratios this will also improve the results of the body lift due to the fact you are runnin bigger tyres... btw.. my 33's are on nissan 15x7 rims and they run fine even at low pressures off road...

yeh this is the 1st time i have ever done this and i am doing it by mi self ill get mi mate over to help but i need to no basicly exatly how to do this because i dun wanna stuff it up lmao and need to no what i need because ill go buy all the matrials and i was thinking i may aswell change thedif because im going to put 33 or 32" tyres on and i want good performnce in the dirt i dun really need a high end speed so ill have to look round for the dif

Ive been looking for diesle ratios for mine, All the wreckers want gold for them if you can get them, so if you find someone who supplies them cheap let me know, Im almost at the point ill buy new crownwheel and pinions and do my own, only thing stopping me is im also looking for a locker at the moment.

the choices are spend your money all on 5.29 diff ratios or new low range gears from mark's adapters... the low range gears take the low range to about 2.5:1 i think but this will only help when you are in low range..... if you change the diff ratios you will benefit on and off - road... or if you are that serious get both and while your at it put a lock-rite front lokka in the front, with manual free wheeling hubs so when your driving around town you can not worry about going around corners and the diff locking up...

hi guys i got a LWB 89 pajero with a 2 inch body lift and i fit 35's with no dramas with the LWB the 2 rear bolts are abit longer so u need 10 bolts with a 2 inch extended length and 2 bolts with a 3 inch extended length from standard iv used 12 poly blocks the only drama i really had is it wouldnt stay in 2wd but that got fixed with the oxy and bent it bout 3 to 4 mm and thats about it i got pics if i figure out how to attach them.
