Will a winch bar off an mq fit ok on a gq, if not will there be much stuffing around

no wont fit. There is 10mm or so difference in width between the chassis rails on MQ/MKs and GQs.

You need to either cut the bullbar mounts off and re weld them on the bar to the new spacing or oxy heat and bend them IF they are just plate type mounts..... usually winch bars slide inside the chassis with fully enclosed box section mounts so you would have to cut and weld them.

thanks mate, then it will come down to what price I have to pay for the bar as to what work needs to be done.

I take it you are looking at the one on eBay that old mate has advertised as fitting both
