I just brought a GQ with Old mate Emu LTRs on the front. I went away on the weekend and the shocks just felt ways to harsh, along dirt roads with bumps, rocks, potholes ect they just werent soakin anything up! are thees adjustable in the valving or only via gas preasures? ? maybe my springs are to Stiff? im guessing its the shocks though

I ran LTRS on my wagon at one stage.
sounds like springs too firm to me. Borrow some springs (or shocks) off someone and see how it rides.
If your LTR's are meant for the patrol, and your patrol is 'normal weight' (ie you dont have an all alloy 2.0L engine) they should be valved right for your truck. my truck ran great with LTR's and stocker springs. when i added winch/batteries/heavy bull bar and changed to heavier spring it still ran great without even touching the ltrs.
OME do say the ltrs are adjustable and you can 'adjust' the pressure you run in them, but you cant change the weight of the oil and you cant change the valving, so really the breadth of actual adjustment is quite small

- compared to other 'adjustable' shocks such as fox/kings/radflo/koni(?) where you can change valving.
cool

cheers, the truck is setup with lee weight over the front than normal. the high mount is setup behind the cab, the panels are all fibreglass, batteries are over the rear axle, even the winscreen wiper bottle is behind the seat. the previous owner tried to get all the weight off the front end! maybe not enough weight to make the shocks work??

Loved my MTR's... got em with matched springs at same time, were awesome.
I'd check the whole setup....

Are you talking tyres (MTR), Bogged, or suspension (LTR)?
I would suggest getting ARB to have a look.

What gas pressure is in the shocks?
This only affects the dynamics a little bit but can make the ride "feel" harsh if too high.
Normal is about 80psi.
Pressure has to be checked using the ARB adaptor and bottle or you will lose too much gas.
As stated prob 90% spring rate though.
