1.6 not sparking

Went to start the car after it sitting for a week. The starter motor would crank but the engine would not fire up. Tried to roll start it & wouldn't even turn over. There was no spark coming from the coil to the dizzy.
I am presuming it is the coil, could it be anything else? If it was the wiring from the ignition it still would have started when I roll started it?
Just want to get some opinions before I start replacing bits?
Whats a coil worth $$?

Got a multimeter?
Check the coil is getting power. If it is check the leads.
A Gt40 coil runs about $50 from memory.

Just replaced the lead that goes from the coil to the dizzy, along with the dizzy cap. There was no spark from the end of this lead.
Is there any advantage or are you able to run a bigger/performance/ waterproof? coil? Is there such thing? If I do need to replace it I may as well go better...
Thanks & yes I will get the multi onto it tonight.

generally the coil fuse is on the same circuit the ign/ dash lights are on , no dash lights is a good sign that the fuse is blown. its usually marked ign/meter

All the dash lights come on.. Fuses are fine.
Checked the wires going into the coil & it seems to have small spurts of power but not all the time. Only once in about every 3-4 starting attempts.
I have narrowed it down to the dizzy not allowing the coil to get power to it. I am going to pull the dizzy apart & have another look.

I have stripped the dizzy down. It was dry, no evidence of water.
Could it be the hall effect sensor? (if that is what it is called) Inside the dizzy. I had one fail on another car but took it to the mechanic & it was going to be $500-600 for a new sensor. Got a 2nd hand dizzy from the wrecker for $20, did the job & is still working.
Anything else it could be?
I have unpluged every connection & cleaned with WD40 just in case.
Does the computer find faults in other places in the system & not allow power through to the coil?
