Maybe go to somene else, as im pretty sure they have relaxed the laws a little when it comes to marks on the windscreen.
Oh yeh and the sierra windscreens are flat, so you could just take the old one to a glass place and they can make you one up.

You could just buff the scratch out with Cerium Oxide.

NO, NO, NO!!!
My father works for a large glass company, and has got Sierra windscreens made up before, but only certain certified branches can make them, and certify them as 'auto glass'. If the glass does not have the little AS logo in the corner for auto rated it can be defected. So yeah some glass places can do it, but not just any old local bathroom window joint.

What recreational activities were you doing inside your zook for a ring to scratch the windscreen?
Were you wheelin' or squealin'!

That shouldn't fail a RWC. Tell him to read the requirements again. Unless it is a crack that penetrates more than one layer of a laminated screen or the damage impairs the drivers vision to such an extent that a vehicle can't be driven safely it should pass. VicRoads had a lot of problems with RWC testers failing windscreens unnecessarily in the past so it even put an article in their "Testing Times" clarifying it.

This one refers to windscreens

The RWC rules in QLD state you can have as many cracks in your screen as you like as long as there are none in the wiper sweep area and none of them are unending.
Lots of RWC mechanics don't pass them though as coppers can see it and might find more defects which can lead to dramas for the mechanic.

I drove around for a few years with a hole straight through the windscreen made by a bolt that bounced up from the road. I had a piece of red gaffa tape stuck on both sides of it to stop it spreading. Has nothing to do with passing a rwc but I thought it was funny.
Also been pulled over by a policeman one night because I had no headlights, only roof mounted driving lights because of an accident and I was driving home. He gave me a defect notice for that but never noticed the fact the entire windscreen was missing or that I was nearly frozen solid form that
