You are in the LPG heartland.

Ask any LPG installer if you can leave the tank at their shop and the testing company/s have a van going round or regular runs every day to pick them up for testing.

that should be pretty easy then

there should be 2 bolts holding straps that hold the tank in but may need to undo 4 to tank the straps right off.

then u have the filler line and the service line.

and you will have 2 or 3 wires depending on how it has been wired.

and bang the tank is on the ground.

with the filler line and hose, is it just a matter of unscrewing and it has a shut off valve, or close the tank via valve?

Those instruction are arse-up. You can loosen the mounting straps to rotate the tank if required to get to other stuff easier. Then I would undo the wires first, to prevent a spanner damaging them. Then I would undo the copper service line to prevent bending and kinking it when the tank is dropped. Then I would undo the filler line, to prevent stress damage when dropping the tank. Then I would undo the mounting straps last. Before undoing the service line to the engine bay, turn the tank stop valve off and run the engine till the gas runs-out. Don't worry about the gas escaping as you undo the filler line, you get that.

I have the number of a mobile guy that will test it in the car.

how can you test in the car he is risking a lot as you are supposed to check over the whole tank for rust and pitting and problems u cant do that in the car.

yes those instructions were arse up i didnt write them in order i thought after looking at it it would common sense to undo the lines first then then drop the tank last.

Internally fitted tanks rarely rust and while they have the valves out they can inspect the tank internally. There is a valve to shut of the outlet but i would use all the gas up first.

Yes that is right it is an in car tank...

You also have to use up all the gas and have under a quarter of a tank of gas...

He takes all the gas out removes the valves etc....

Like I said I don't know the in and outs but he came to me at work and tested the tank.........cheap, quick and easy....

I'll post his number and you can have a chat to see what he can do for you.

i have seen a lot of ford wagons ea to el with the tanks in the back and they fit them into the cradle and the cradle gets a coverage of water on the bottom. hence the bottom of the tank pitting.

how can you check the condition of the tank from looking inside it?? its a bit late if you are seeing pitting and rust on the inside think it would be leaking by then.

i am not arguing the fact people would test tanks in cars, i am just saying how legitimate is the test when they dont fully check it over.

the person getting the tank tested has no worries just the tester he is putting his name on it and the tag to say all good for 10 yrs.
