Hi all,

new here and i need some help from you.

i ve found a 3.0 L 2001 model with an ALREADY changed motor with a new one almost when was at 30.000k.

So first question is what model is that ? GU or GQ ? still confused with that

The engine has been changed, do you think that the new refering to the old one will be better/fixed ?
I ve read something about engines problems around.

It's the latest model...... as i ve been told, it just dont have the facelift inside, or something like that.

Axles are H233B at frond, and H260 Large at the rear ?

I,m going to buy it, and i would be glad to you if someone tells me what do i have to look for in such a car.
I mean to check it..... any common problems.
Notice here that there no real offroading with it.
It has sunroof, a/c, airbag, leather seats, 7 seater.

Thanks anyone who will answer me.

Y61 is the chassis/body code.

We call the Y61 the GU. We called the Y60 the GQ. Not sure why, but we do. Yes that model you're looking at is a Y61.

They're a generally good vehicle and the european examples would have few troubles compared to our vehicles here. You have higher quality fuel which would prolong the life of your injector pump (our diesel fuel is a bit dodgey sometimes, and dodgey fuel will ruin a zd30's sensitive injector pump).

Common points of failure are belt tensioners, intercoolers leak, 5th gear splines stripping due to manufacturing fault, VNT actuator in turbo siezing, accelerator pedal servo unit failing, MAF sensor failing, boost sensor failing, EGR system leaking.

Those are the big ones which most people report failing.

Hi and thanks for the reply,

the car is with manual trans, so that means without rear locker ? or just an LSD?

Do they use the same system for disconecting the rear bar when offroading, even in manual trans. Patrols?

Manual transmission just means it has a 5spd shift rather than an auto. its got nothing to do with the rear stabiliser bar or the rear diff.

patrols have an lsd, unless optioned with diff lock. youll know if it has a difflock because it will have a switch just infront of the 4wd transfer lever.

as for the disconnecting rear swaybar - we dont have them on australian models. theyre electronic in the Y61 and from all reports, they're useless if you drive near a puddle of water.

So you mean that there is a possibility to have a rear locker mated with the manual trans. too?
That sounds good!

Thanks for the info anyway.

How can i be sure that the vehicle has a rear H260 axle and not the H233B ?

Is there any way to check it, or all GU/GR have H260 rear and H233B at frond ?
