MQ rear disc brake conversion

I'm looking at doing away with the rear drums on the Patrol and replacing them with discs.
I'd asume the GQ rear discs would fit and the caliper mounting would be straight foward.
Anyone ever done this before?
Anyone got a pair of rear discs and calipers they want to sell ??
Anyone else want to do it if I get it to work ???

As ive already spoken to you about before,
Im also very keen to look into this modification, though was thinking more along the lines of a complete rear GQ diff ( disk to disk ) rather than just mounting disks to the MQ rear housing.
Though your idea would be easier and would enable Disks much sooner and cheaper than a huge mod of putting a rear GQ diff in, as if i were to do it i would convert to 5 link rear coils and that wont happen for many many months.

id be thinkin that if you had the dollars, you could put in a complete GQ rear diff, and have a increased track width, factory LSD, and still leave you feafs in, as youve just done all the spring over work, then you save up again, and you get a GQ front diff, so you track width matches.

I'd definitely be interested
I can't afford a complete GQ rear end swap, as I'd need 4.6s and an air locker to go in it at the same time.

..... 3 people allready !!!!, + the 4 that are local ..total of 7
I'm working on it guys , still finding out the small details as to availibility, method of attachment, calliper availibility, brake line thread size, recemended plate thickness for attachment , master cylinder requirements, brake compensator , blah blah blah.
If I had the $$$ to buy a set of GQ diffs then I might look into it ..... maybe when i do the 5 link !!!!..

5 link would certainly be an excellent, if not challenging mod for the future.
Good luck in the Disk conversion. I will help out with the part where i can

gq or gu diff conversion would be expensive and you would have to do front and rear. i am sure you would be able to sourse some 6 stud discs that would locate over you're existing hubs (with backing plates removed) and then it would only be a matter of mounting callipers. I would think that original front mq callipers would do as the rear brakes recieve less preasure than the front.

I thnk all this idea work fine, but MQ front calipers won't work. the MQ front rotors are 18mm thick, the GQ rear rotors are 16mm thick.
GQ rotors just slide over the studs and should work with longer studs (standard GQ studs?) pressed into the axle. maybe the GQ end housing will bolt straight onto the MQ housing and give you a factory caliper bracket? nissan are pretty good like that..

Yep
it was just an idea

it will if you use an air locker so you can change the side gears to suit the bigger GQ axles. gotta machine the axle apertures in locker slightly too.
I have no idea if the side gears in the standard centres are interchangable?

I see ... just looking at the ARB air locker chart some interesting stuff in there ...
