Arb compressor Prob

Have a new problem with the arb compressor under my bonnet.. Prob, is it won't cut out & Continues to run & Blow air as though I was using it pump up tyres.. If I press the Rear & Front locker switches nothing happens. Used the lockers on the weekend & Last time I tried the compressor (Apart from today to pump up a mates car tyre, when I discovered the issue) was pumping up my tyres on Sunday after a run on the beach..

Anyone ?? Searched the net for awhile & could not find any troubleshooting guides from arb's site.

PM "dbongard" he's an engineer with ARB - perhaps he can provide some troubleshooting guidance.

Maybe there's a hole in one of your locker lines?

Can you disconnect the lines from the compressor and run it see if it still does it.

you've blown the o-ring around the air tank on top there around $7 from ARB just make sure you use rubber grease on the o-ring when installing it, also whilst you've got the air tank off visually check if there's any cracks in the tank. ;)

Im with oozuk, sounds like a sealing problem in the chamber.

By the way you mentioned it was a new problem, what was the previous probs.

Sounds like the pressure cut off switch may have failed. Put your hand near it or spray soapy water around the cut off switch and see if any air is blowing out of that around the plastic/metal contact areas. I've had 2 fail on my compressor mounted under the hood. The heat from the engine seems to cause the seals to fail where the plastic "shroud" meets the metal base of the pressure switch. End result, compressor never turns off and pressure continues to build. Dont try and activate the lockers if it's doing this, you may blow the diff seals. Putting in a new pressure switch should fix the problem.

i would go with the tank o-ring if the air locker switches are in the off position with just the compressor on.
If it was only doing it with the loker on i would say the blue air line or the brass pipe inside the diff,which if not installed properly are prone to rub on the crownwheel.
THE GRASS MAY BE GREENER ON THE OTHER SIDE BUT YOU STILL GOTTA MOW IT.

thank's for the reply's, It is the old style, I had checked the air lines & there are no leaks.. Basically it is just pumping air straight out where you stick the hose connection to reinflate tyres..
I have the day off on Thursday so will go down to ARB & Enquire for the 'o ring & Replace that... Thankyou so much guy's ;)

The other prob's were that I have blown the piston in the compressor twice.. Second time took near on 5 weeks for a replacement (Was under warranty) to come via Sydney to Perth.... Any drama's like that this time & I will just replace it with a deifferent compressor.

mate what happens with the piston , does it seize or break ? I just rebuilt my old compressor with a new motor and all new seals ,cost me $40 DIY witbrand new motor.
I have decided to keep a new compressor in the wagon just in case it fails.
The old style compressors really are garbage.

ive got one of the new ones (well arb has it at the moment) I pumped up 8 tyres after going to lcmp at xmas and the next time i tryed to use it it wouldnt work, dont know whats up with it , it went in under warranty 2 weeks ago ? Not happy jan :x

i'd be asking them to fit a new one and fix the old one in their own time... you cant be expected to pay $500+ for a compressor and have 2 weeks downtime on it..

Check the valve in the fitting then.
