FJ40 Door Latch?

Post by RUFF »

Anyone ever seen new replacement door latch mechanisims for the late model FJ40? Mine rattles like hell and im struggling to find a good replacement. Its just worn out. Its not the striker i allready turned that around. Its the pin in the centre of the mechanism thats worn and the housing as well.

Only place I've seen them new is on SOR (spector offroad)

http://www.sor.com/sor/cat126.tam?xax=1 ... t126%2Etam

Scroll down till you get to the diagram of the door with its component parts. Click on 5RH (for RHS) and 6LH (for LHS) and it will take you to a new page with availabilty and price. Should be US$60 ea so dont know if that suits, depends how bad you want it. :D Will you hear the rattle over the tyres?

if you drive a 40 series and your worried about rattles i suggest you get yourself a differant sort of car :D The only time a 40 series doesnt rattle is when its stationary.

can you take a pic of what you need replaced? I might have a spare set of door innards from a failed attempt at half doors.. i'll have to check my parts bin.

mate got some on ebay...not too sure which brand. Anyway stopped working few months later and now he has to open the door through the quarter window
At first I thought it was a sea anemone, upon closer inspection I realised it was a funky ball of tits from outer space.

or do like my last 2 or 3, and run no external handle and on the inside run a landrover handle and latch

OR

run the lock-wood window latches from your local hardware

all with half doors..
