Roof mounted antenna

I am about to install a VHF/UHF radio, and want to use the best ground plane possible, that would mean just one location the centre of the roof. What I can't seem to figure out is getting access between the headliner and roof sheet metal safely without causing any damage. It's for a LWB GQ. The dome lights seem to have metal arround for the bolting brackets, so that would be difficult to access a drill and thread the coax cable.
Thanks for your help.

dont know about fixing and stuff but the threading of the cable would be easy through the roof hole your making and the cavornous headlining. thread it along and towards the A pillar as it has a hole in it. i dont know bout the B pillar ive only seen a ute.

Buy a ground plane independant antenna and mount on the guard, bullbar or wheel carrier. Then no need to drill the roof.
