few little points i considered when i got my 80
80 smaller- 100 wont fit down alot of tracks
100 newer - 80 older
80 factory turbo diesel- 100 factory turbo only comes with ifs
a good late model 80 commands almost as much $ as a 100
Motors
petrol is an awesome motor, strong with heaps of grunt but very thirsty
1hz reliable and economical but painfully slow
1hdt great motor if you replace the big ends 99% as economical as a 1hz but lots more power
1hdft even better than a 1hdt if you can find one
1hdfte is the shiz but only came in ifs 100 series

What!!!!
i have 105 series and i fit down every track ive ever wanted to go down! as said above its a personal thing! i have a petrol 105 series and my mate has a diesel 80 both awesome cars both go where we want them 2 both reliable both strong. 80 has a rougher ride and 105 series smother ride. both flex well. no matter what you get as long as you enjoy it and have fun in it thats all that counts.
my 105 Series flex
by the way Lukey's 4x4 coustoms can make some awesome protection for both 80 and 100's and all other 4wds for that matter.

80 and 105 both ride exactly the same as every suspension component is the same i think that its more of a car to car thing depending on suspension, life and the type of bushes it has. 105 may body roll a little more due to being heavier tho
and the 105 is about 100mm wider in the cab wich is very noticable on the tracks where my mates 105 sometimes cant physically fit or ends up scratched
dont get me wrong i love both just clearing up some facts
