Why? I think fake bead locks are good off road because you can replace the rings if you damage them on rocks. With a normal alloy wheel you can't do this your rims would be stuffed. I have seen a few people running the Mickey Thompsons alloys and they have replaced the alloy rimg with steel rings.

This is exactly what I do on my Disco as I have 2 sets of beadlock rings on my MT Classic locks.

ok, i don't know much about beadlocks, but if they're illegal on the street and you have these on...and a cop pulls you over...how do you prove they're fake?

if all you wheel is mud and ruts there prob not any advantage
but if you wheel rock they would strengthen the rim quite alot id say
most buggys with alloy rims get a strengthening ring welded to the outside lip
cos they crack off pretty easy

If i was going to run Staun internal beadlocks i would seriously concider these rims. Actually i would buy this style of alloy rim over any other for offroad use with or without internals.

True, rock rings are useful for cars with internal beadlocks without doubt, but I don't think that was Procomps aim with these rims, do you? I think they're supposed to look like beadlocks, but aren't really, and I call that as sad.
Functional rock rings don't need all the little fake bolts tat are just going to get all banged up.
These will be cast rims too - procomp are pretty cheap products.

Regardless they are still a sexy looking rim for people without the need for ture beadlocks (most people).

I will never need real bead lock because I don't run bias tyres or own a comp truck. I run alloys and have damaged the rims edges on rocks, if I had rims with the fake bead locks I would have only damaged the fake ring which can easily be replaced. This why I said fake bead locks are good off road!

All of Pro Comps rims come with a lifetime structural warranty.

That would be because it's not a beadlock just like lots of other rims

I suppose I should start posting lots of pics of nice looking street legal rims now too.

These rims are new design and they are not available in Australia yet. Thats why I posted the pics and info up.

are you sure those rings are removable SIM79?
I accept everyone's different - I don't really care what my wheels look like and need beadlocks for what I do. I wouldn't ever spend that much money on cast rims and take them off road, whether I could replace the ring or not.
I also challenge the advantage of a cast alloy over a steel rim offroad. I've seen too many alloys killed in the bush.
I have some cast alloys to go on my car once the diffs are done, but they were the right offset and size for what I want and were cheaper than a steel rim.... so I couldn't pass them up. I fully expect to damage them though, but I am only in a 1000kg car.

I don't know for sure about these Pro Comps but all the other fake bead lock alloy rims that I have seen so far have replacement rings in different colours. These replace ment ring are very weak so people replace them with custom made steel rings.
I used to run steel rims but every 40,000klm I would have to replace two rims due to them being too bent to re-balance. After going through 8 rims in different brands I switched to alloys and have done 100,000klm now with no more bending. But my alloy rims edges have been chew up by some rocks.

Bring them on. The more wanklocks there are the better. less chance of getting pulled up with real ones fitted
in defense, replaceable outer rings are a great at protecting the rim. the down side is they are bitch to keep clean, well my real ones are.

Dont Procomp do an alloy rim with real beadlocks?

slightly off topic but honestly what is the main concern with regards to abeadlock wheel being illegal...
What is the reasoning behind the law for them to be classed as illegal is what I am asking?
I can see the point of possibility of the nut/bolts coming loose and loosign the bead entirely but thats flawed by the fact that wheel studs can come loose in the same manner?
Sorry just generally missing the reasoning behind the whole beadlock story and am interested to hear further.
p.s. I think the rims look good, but would never use them personally.

It's generally because no-one has tested them. Certifying a new rim as ADR compliant is a very expensive process- a tyre and wheel combination has to be subjected to an explosive failure at speed- amongst other things.
I read up the ADR's on rim design and testing some time ago as I had the same question.
There's no question IMHO that a beadlock rim will pass the test, but there's thousands of dollars of testing and the market wouldn't be big enough to support it.
Unfortunately, the US DOT requirements are not, as far as I am aware, observed here so a DOT approved beadlock won't necessarily be any more legal here. (Hutchinson) as en example, swampers are DOT approved for road use but they're not legal here.
Don't ask me about the factory beadlock rims on Hummer H1's imported in small volumes though.

In the case of a steel wheel beadlock there can be no circumfrential?? welds.
For an alloy wheel tho, if Simmons or other multi piece wheels are legal I can't think of a reason beadlocks shldn't be other than lack of testing as stated.

One circumferential weld is permissable, but I was unable to confirm whether this included the centre/rim weld.
I am aware that wheels have been apparently legally narrowed and widened by welding with one weld, so an otherwise unmodified rim with a beadlock ring fitted at time of manufacture should still comply.
more than one weld is not permissable so "banded" rims are 100% illegal.
you're right, the problem is testing to prove bead retention, even if it's obvious it can't fall off.
