Converting a prado manual to automatic, is it a major conversion or is it doable?
As in not to expensive?
Cheers

MAJOR excercise requiring a lot of wiring and fitting various sensors etc not to mention the costs involved.
Really not worth doing unless your Prado is a pig
or it has a lot of extras that can't be swapped out, otherwise trade it for an auto if thats what you want.

sell it and buy an auto one easier than a conversion

I looked into doing the same with my 80 deso a few years back (6-7 years)
Quotes I got ranged from $15k to $20k. I did ask for the trans to be fully rebuilt tho.
for the money I went and traded on a brand new Prado (and saved some $ in the process) with an auto already fitted
IMO like others have said, it's easyer and cheeper to trade to an auto. If you keep in a Prado, just swap all your gear
My guess you might pay out $5k or thereabouts depending on how hard you look and how hard you talk
Best part about getting on with an auto already fitted is that noone has swapped and changed and the fact it was made that way to start with (no conversion stuff up hassles)
Just my thoughts

Franken mate by the looks of it you'd be cheaper getting a new missus. I mean what real man wants to be knee deep in mud an have a car do all the work for ya, you'd be missing out on half the fun.

Nah, looked at getting a new missus but it was gunna cost a hell of a lot more.
I like the v6 auto in the lux, so i guess i will keep looking for an auto.

How about driving lessons in a manual?

Not interested. Offered to teach her but shes not to keen as we are buying it to tow our 16ft van.
I said it was easier for me to replace a stuffed clutch while teaching her.
Anyone got a landcruiser diesel auto for sale?
