Just then ma rangie would not start because the starter motor wont turn ova.
Anyway i wiggled the wires about tried it agen not wrking so i got the trusty multimeter out and theres power to the starter motor but no power to the part dat engages the solinoid thus the startermotor.
I took the starter motor out cos i thought it could be the solinoid but it isnt (i tested by using jumper leads there all good).
So i was thinking dat it is the wiring somwhere. My Question is could it be the ignition switch or a fuse or somthin lyk dat its just i need ma rangie more den ever at the moment and i get dis problem plz help

wat wif das sms ritin? its hrd 2 reed.
Aussming it not an auto and hasnt been left in gear?
How did you check the starter? Did you hook up the leads to the +ve starter terminal on the starter and the -ve post and the jump from the +ve terminal to the solenoid?
You definatly have no power with the key in the start postion at the solenoid?
Does the car have an imboliser fitted?
Have you gone through and checked all the fuses with you multimeter?

I had the same problem a while back. Ended up being a relay . My rangey is a 81 , and the relay was mounted on the firewall on the passenger side.
Hope that helps.

easiet way to find a dud relay is to start swapping them out until the car starts but another function fails.
Also use the ol' sniffer and smell them, you can usually smell if they are cooked.
Sounds like you know how to drive a mulitmeter, take each relay out 1 at a time and check the between the 85 and 86 terminals for power when you turn the key to start.
You can also put a jumper wire between the 30 and 87 terminal as see if that makes the car crank.
The terminals are numbered on the bottom or the side of the relay so you can see which is which.
good luck

Yea, relay on the passenger side firewall is the most likely culprit

I had a similar problem.
One of the legs had broken off the relay, but occassionally made contact.
It looked fine and would usually start but other times no go.
I pulled the starter more times than I cared to think about before finding it.
Try listening for the solenoid to click. No click no power from the switch. The solenoid is around 5o x 25 x 35mm and is above the passengers side head.

Well i know now its not the relay cos i did a few tests with jumping 30 to 87 and it did nothin so should i look at the ignition barrel could that be it lyk an earth wire or somthin lyk that. But im gonna have a look soon see if i can see anythin.

by the sounds of your post it sounds like the solenoid isn't clicking in. I had/have exactly the same problem on my rr. I found it to be a bad connection on the 12V that leads to the started. . my loose connection wasn't on the connector from the wire to the body of te starter, but about halfway there were two connectors under the trans which were full of crap. if itsnot that try hooking up 12V straight to the starterto test the starter, or on the steering column take out that thing on the left side that the key ignition, try turning that with a screwdriver.

Hey everyone thanx for the help but it was the relay.
I was lookin at the wrong one right from the start i have two on the passenger side one that controls the fuel pump and that was the one i looked at.
Anyway get to the point there was the original one still on there and it was covered by aircon hoses (it looked lyk smthin out of the 1960s lol) so i didnt reckonise it so yeh all fixed
