Iv been pondering over this for a while but is it worth changeing the diff ratio's from 4.1 to 4.3 in a tb45 with 33's??
If i had 35's i would but not sure on the 33's..
Anyone out there with same engine and tyres thats done it to giv us the heads up.
Im assuming as well that i would need the 4.3's out of a zd30 cos my diffs are the big pumpkin type ones, the same as the 3.0l?!
thanks

for the cost of it i wouldn't bother.......
Do you actually the notice the 33's that much?
I have a mate with 4.1 and 35's no problems yes its a bit laggy but ok when he had 33 wasnt an issue......

the RB30 powered ones use the 4.3 from memory, the little diesel uses the 4.6's.

yeah correct rb30 are 4.3
2.8 diesel gq uses the 4.6
however one with big back rear diff you will need a 3L Gu (generally the manuals had the big rear diff but not always)

I thought i was correct about needing the zd30 diffs!
As for noticing the 33's i have never driven my truck with smaller tyres on it,oh tell a lie..i drove it from the bloke's house i bought it from to my house (bout 4km)Then put 33's strait on it that i had lying in the shed.So i cant exactly remember how it went. That was a year and a half ago and before it was gassed.
IM not sure on the cost of second hand 4.3 diffs either?
There should be plenty around at the wreckers from 3.0ltd that have blown..
thanks

there maybe plenty but there is demand for em
go borrow a set of 31s and go for a spin, then you will see what it would be like with 4.3's on and fuck loads cheaper than swapping to find out they suck.

I use to run 33's offroad and 31's on road and didn't notice much of a difference with a TB42e. Now i run 35's offroad and still have the 31's for on road use. The power loss and low gearing is very noticable.
