I wouldn't fit a body lift at all.
I'd fold the seams on the firewall/inner gaurds and redrill the perches to move the diff forward 25mm.
Much less chance of a roll over.

Increasing suspension height won't fix the problem. They'll still rub when the suspension is flexed.

I agree though, 30's are too small to justify a BL. hammering some seams etc should see to it.

my 29s in the sierra get close to the seems but clear ok. on full flex they might not though so im going to fold them back or hit them with the flapper disc on the grinder.

just whack them with a hammer and fold them back on themselves. You don't want to cut or grind them back as it may allow them to seperate at a later date. You want to try and keep the integrity of the seam and thus keep the strength in it

right so now we know its a Vitara you can't redrill the perches to move the diff forward 25mm.

Also you say you have a 2" lift but don't know whether to go a 2 or 3" lift. Huh? You already have a 2" and if they rub then why would you get another 2" unless the current one has sagged.

Where on the guards do they rub? It may be as easy as changing the offset of the rims, or trimming some of the guard. But until you give us some more detailed info of where and how much rubbing and is just front or back or both we really can't answer your question

GRIMBO: Who's questions are you answering.. Paulyp or Fordy1 ?
Are they the same person? Or is Fordy1 hijacking the thread?

From my understanding Fordy1 answered what vehicle Paulyp has. I hope so otherwise I gave my one and only tech based answer to a thread hijack and that would be such a shame to waste such knowledge :D

With a statement like 2" or 3" I would be leaning towards it being a Vitara, cause that is about the only options.

I would go to 3" so you don't have to worry about going high in the future. When you start looking at bigger wheels again.

bingo!!

Grimbo is corect! :D

that is why it is so important to put as much info into the intial question so people know exactly what they are answering about otherwise it is all guesswork

How does more spring lift reduce compression travel?

sorry its a 2L LWB vitara with 2" suspension lift and im defibnatley going to go BL i just didnt quite kno if i should go 2" or 3" body.

the tyres are suposed to be 30" but measure closer to 31" so they hit the gaurds which i hav alrady done some bashing to with a hammer. the problem is now they hit the bashed guards which are sharper than original and rip the tyres.

re drill the front bolt holes for the control arms at the chassis end so that the arms angle froward a bit giving u more wb then get a wheel alinment
that will clear the fire wall then get a 3" body lift and get some 33's

3" body lifts scare me and much more work than 2"
2" is plenty for what you are trying to do, however, I'd be looking into some small bumpstop spacers to keep the tyres out of your guards before you went to that much trouble for what is effectively a small tyre.

the tyres look huge on the little wagon and 2inch body lift is the most you can do legal in bris but im all for lifting the suspenion higher first before body lifting, im sure adding strut and coil spacers would be less involved than body lifting your rig.

suspension lift doesn't mean bigger tyres fit. If he is in QLD then he needs to make sure he can do the 2" suspension plus 2" body lift as I thought that wasn't possible. Why not try different offset rims plus some trimming of the flares and adding bumpstop extensions to limit uptravel?

to my understanding he would be fine as he does not have airbags.

what does not having air bags have to do with it?

Nobody's too happy with airbags (SRS) and body lifts. Apparently almost impossible to get approved/certed
