Winch Breathers

When Puttign in breathers to the winch, am i better off putting the breather into the motor or gearbox, or both?

Both. Drill a hole and tap it with an 1/8 gas thread and fit barbed hose fittings in them.
Drill into the base of the motor. Remove the base and make sure there is nothing in the that you will affect.
