I'm thinking of making my own snorkel for my 2H 60 out of aluminium tube, any suggestions or dimentions would be a great help.
Cheers,
Luke.

y bother
do u want a bling bling snorkel or r u trying to save money
u can get an airflow snorkle for a 60 for 270 bucks
the air filter on the 60 is very forward so u'd have to have a preety long snorkle

I'm toying with the idea of making one also. I can't fork over $270 for a plastic tube and some fittings.
Can't help with dimensions but I did notice at the local plumbing supplies they have rubber 45 and 90 degree bends for joining different size pipes. Then you don't have to worry about getting bends correct, just use straight tubing.

I'm with you guys. I want a snorkel also, but can't bring myself to spending hundreds for a couple of bits of plastic. If you've got the time, you might as well engineer something.

I might be a bit late on this one but I will make one soon for my '84 Lux 2L.

It'll be made out of 80mm PVC pipe available at most plumbing supplies and the necessary 45deg and 90deg joiners.

The ram on the top costs $78 from ARB to suit the 80mm pipe but I'll try and source a 2nd hand from the wrecker.

why'd you buy a commodore then??

seriously it's cheaper and easier to just buy one, it looks better and doesn't get smashed up when you roll onto it.

The PVC ones are a bit dangerous IMHO, having seen one that had been on a vehcile a while basically "explode" when whacked by a tree branch .. had cgone nioce and brittle with a few years worth of UV .. flying sharp plasic shards all over the place ...

Finally built one

I got some 80mm aluminium tube from work, some 45 and 90 deg. rubber joints, a few self tappers and rivits and for around $100 and a couple hours work, bobs your uncle.
Cheers,
Luke.

If you can get hold of some flexible tube/hose to run from the air cleaner, the snorkel can be the same size as a Safari/Airflo placcie one.

As for size, the bigger the better!! Guess bout 4inches...?

....and thats diameter guys.......
