high pressure wash after the beach and mud (mud can rust stuff to)
Fish oil underneath if you dont mind the car stinking for a couple of days

Just out of interest, the general consensus amongst heavy plant maintenance people is the every time you open the airbox you shorten the life of the motor. filters are only replaced when restriction is measured with a telltale at the filter.

The dirtier (paper) air filters get the better they filter, up until the point restriction is an issue.

In effect, only open you filter box sparingly and replace with a new clean filter when you do. there is always a risk of small amounts of dust making their way into the inlet tract, so opening to have a look or blow the filter out is not ideal.

Blowing filters down with compressed air can also damage them (and the engine) by pushing dirt through them etc.

I know no-one really complies with this, we all like to see how much dirt our filter is catching, but these are the facts when engines are worth many thousands of dollars and are expected to last for thousands of hours.

Not having a go, just passing on some tech I have been made aware of.
Steve.
