Hilux door locks??

Hi all. Just got a 90 series xtra cab. Has some sort of turbo on it. Will post pics once I know how. Sure there will be many questions as I get into fixing/changing bits.

My first issue is that the door locks are an absolute pain. Original key works sometimes but new cut key wont work at all.
Is this a standard problem? What would be the best fix. I could go power locks but is costly and still doesnt help with a flat battery.

Thanks for any thoughts.

First thing to do with locks that are not easy to use is to get some graphite powder.(most hardwares and automotive shops have it) put it in the locks.

makes a big difference.

Go and see a Locksmith (not a "key cutter") and get a key cut to code NOT DUPLICATED this would be a good start, then graphite as already said, if this is no good locks will need to be rekeyed.

Take the new cut key, and run it under a wire wheel. I promise you it will work.
