13.5 litres to the hundred towing 1500kg glad i didn't get the auto as apparently they get those sort of figures unloaded. you definetly need to do the suspension the day you buy one as they sag very quickly.

I've been taken by a 2.5 l T/D auto 20 to 25 l/100 towing a van. 14-15l/100 town and 12.5 l/100 on open road.
Fuel consumption gradually got worse from new possibly due to plugging of the CAT.
Nissan can't help but continue to mislead the unsuspecting public with their false advertising.
Question -- WHO would run a computer in an oven?-- Correct if you guessed NISSAN.
The ECM is situated at the top of the engine bay where it is exceptionally HOT (over 60 celcius) so hot at times you can't hold your hand on it.
Most computer equipment has an operating limit under 50*C.
NISSAN can't quote any max.temp for this equipment--typical.
This is only one anomaly I've discovered with this vehicle, there are many more.
GOOD LUCK

Not just nissan have been doing that.
Bosch were slapping computers onto the side of injector pumps for a littl while... Suprise suprise guess what just starts dying randomly. Nissan used these pumps on their ZD30's. Many other manufactuers around the world also used these Bosch pumps - they're all having the same issues with these pumps dying in the arse after a fairly steady time period.
Poorley thought out electrics are just one thing plaguing alot of turbo diesels at the moment.

the ZD30 pumps is a little interesting. note the problems that other manafactures have are not neccarly the same faults the nissans get. (nissan is actually a zexel pump, a bosh copy)
the electronics on the pump are cooled by fuel, which is fine untill fuel temp goes right up. biggest problem is corrision due to being wet etc.
some of the electronic are not thought out to well, which is a shame as jap vechiles tend to have great electrics.

the vp44 on the zd30 are suffering the exact same failures as the other vp44's around the world.
Zexel make the pumps under license by bosch.
Its no excuse for shitty design though

the reason it dies on some of the vechiles is the electric pusher/feeder pump fails. yanks for ya, who fits electric pumps on the side of a motor.
it seems to be the bigger HP motors that have most of the problems. but granted it certainly has some faults.
however back on topic, some of the later common rail motors are having a few weid quirks.
how many D40 owners have blown clutches ??
