Surfy No Worky!

Well. I own half a surf. :D

Except it doesnt go :cry:

Its a KZN130 surf halfcut. cut behind the front seats, just behind the rear drive flange.

It cranks over fine- no worries with that at all, but it wont fire. I have fuel at the filter, and at the pump, but if you break the injector unions, no fuel there.

Elecy gremlins i think.

Any ideas guys? (and ive asked on the surf site too... just getting more opinions!)

Check if you have power at the fuel cut off solinoid if not you can just run a wire from the battery to it. To stop it disconect it, easy.

bit more complex on the EFI diesels, they dont have a "solenoid" as such, they have a "Spill control valve" thats linked in with the ECU.

Its probably a dodgy wiring plug somewhere, i just didnt have the patience to crawl all over the thing tonight in the dark.

Check all the fusses that shoud help point you in the right direction to where it is then have fun :lol:

It also could just be air in the pump refusing to budge.

Just for info- the "spill control valve" is what controls the fueling rate of the pump, and is dependent on ECU signals to ensure you always get correct fueling- helps efficiency and cuts down smoke.

And if its broken, its a new fuel pump! :shock:

Surfy NOW worky! :lol:

Helps a heap when the spill control valve is actually plugged into the loom... theres a lot of random plugs disconected on this halfcut- i think someone in japan is playing silly buggers! :lol:

Lux_89- I paid $5500 for the cut, for a 89,000km 3.0TD manual.

And build up thread will be happening, i just have to pay for the sodding halfcut first :oops:

Glad you didn't take this advice and cause $600 damage to the Spill valve that works from 5 volts from the ECU. Glad you didn't destroy the ECU by connecting 13.8 volts to it at the Spill valve connector.

i think even if he did take this advise he would have noticed the disconected wire. dont you!!!!

Yep sure is. For those that don't know the difference, this is the mechanical advance pump with 12V solenoid plug at rear;

This is the electronic advance pump with ECU controlled Spill Valve;
