80 Series Window Regulator/Motor Question

Hi There
I have a 1992 GXL 80 series and am having problem with my drivers side window motor. The window was getting stuck (proper stuck) when lowered all the way down.
I have taken the regulator and motor assembly out of my car and noticed that some of the electric motor casing (black plastic bit) had broken away causing the toothed part of the regulator to become jammed. After calling Toyota and finding that a new motor was going to set me back around $460 for the motor only i was wondering two things..
1. Can i use the motor from the window in rear door in place of the one in the front? IF this is the case, I am just going to swap the motors around, disconnecting the rear door one so that the window cannot be lowered at all.
2. are there aftermarket ones available? If so whereabouts would be the best place to get one? Is it a common problem? Would one from a wrecker be reliable enough?
Thanks heaps in advance
Nik
