For those out there running bunnings flares did you guys find they reduced much of the tyre drone? I'm really not too keen on these flares but when I went from 30 inch bfgs on stock rims to max offset desert rat rims I got a hell of a lot more tyre drone. I do 150+km on the highway a day and I'd put up with the bunnings jobbies if it meant my ears would stop bleeding.

Nah they don't reduce tyre drone at all...I"m running 15x8 -30 rims so they hang out the guard about 70mm from memory with 34x10.5s on. the plastic garden edging is really tough and easy to shape to a wheel arch...tek screws are your friend....

probably only thing might be sound deadener.... or just get some HTs for your daily driving and save the chunkys for the weekend..

Really, you drive a suzuki and you're worried about tyre noise?

The only way to reduce tyre noise is to run less agressive tyres. You can try running them harder, theis reduces the contact patch and quietens them down, but ride and handling will/may suffer.

put carpet on the floor instead of that thin rubber matting... but like others said... tyre noise is nothing compared to the tcase/diffs/engine all whirring away =)

I have bunnings flares and they don't stop the noise or i cant tell as the swampers are loud as!

I have mine secued with nut and bolt so i can take them off when i head off road cause they don't have much flex and push pannels in like you wouldn't believe!(NT) But when i went over on my sid ethey flexed.......

Ive got bunnings flares, and old bfg muds and I can hear the tyre noise. Ive used brush on sound deadener in the wheel wells (2 coats) and spray on deadener in the tub and underneath I dont think it makes any difference (well nothing great anyway)

We sell sound deadening and rust proofing at work (Tint-A-Car) and they use the same black spray for both purposes so i plan on using that on my next car to kill 2 birds with 1 stone. Its a lot thicker than the stuff from Repco in Aerosol cans.

Why the hell would you want to quieten down a Sierra?!? It's the only time I get some peace and quiet from the missus...!

My gearing(Low as) mixed with the swampers sounds like a plane taking off the whole time!

But even before that it wasn't loud!

You don't need carpet or spray on soundproofing or even 'bunnings' flares to cut down the noise, you need to get above the sound with a Calmini 5" lift kit.

Thanks guys. Question answered. I only really considered it because of the noticeable increase after going to the bigger offset. I've been running it on the highway like this for 10000km or so now so I guess wats 30000 more. Round town is the only place the engine/tranny/exhaust overpowers the tyre drone.
