Hi there, had oil leaking from between alt and vac pump so replaced O ring and noticed that when I tightened the 3 screws that hold the vac pump on the Alt was extremely stiff and hard to turn...so I backed them off a little.. now it slowly drips oil again and also is too hot to touch after about a minute idleing....have to go to Bris tomorrow morning and am running out of time. The oil leak I can live with but is the heat going to be a problem? ie cooking my oil? apreciate any feedback....thanx

You will have to strip it down again and check that the vanes are in the right way around and are free to slide in and out the slots. Check for rubbing marks from the rotor on the housing. If it gets that hot you cant touch it I dont think you will get very far in it.
Good Luck

didn't actually open the pump just seperated it from the Alt and put a new O ring in. The teeth on the shaft were pretty rooted though.....
can anyone check and see how hot theirs gets? its pretty close to the exhaust but I'm sure it shouldn't be to hot to touch....thanx

it will be as hot as the engine oil going through it which is quite easily enough to burn, question is you say it was hot after a minute.....was the engine cold or already hot at that point?
