Toyota Prado

looking at a 02 modle Prado with a 3 ltr turbo diesel.
wondering what the fuel consumption was on these.
are they all IFS. what is the life expectancy of these engines.
any help would be great

Gday mate a company i do work for own about 20 of these things and they are great reliability wise in my opinion,all of them have 350K plus with no major probs,they are all IFS unfortunately,not sure about fuel econ

I have seen one blow a diff just driving up a dirt hill; not even flogging it. It was quite funny as it was only a month old and he had to drive it out to the road from the 4wd park to get Toyota assistance......poor bugga, felt sorry for him.

Don't know if it was a manufacturing fault or if they are known to do this but something for you to investigate.

Oh and it was the first time away from the camp that weekend.

my old mans '00 prado has blown the front diff, gearbox, transfer case and Steering rack.

Needless to say hes not happy bout that!


But its using about 13-14L/100 with 265/75R16 BFG AT's

we've just done 6000km since dec (family trips and some 4bing) and we are getting between 9.8-11l/100kms,thats three kids and all camping gear
