Beadlocks Question

Gday guys whats the deal with beadlocked rims are they road legal,and whats your thoughts on the staun internal beadlocks cheers

not road leagl, stauns seam ok, I run mechanical beadlocks but mates have had second airs and changed to stauns. I dont know if the second airs have been changed but they had problems bursting tubes.

Its an age old question (read Arguement)
If you talk to the tyre and rim association, they will tell you that any modification to a rim makes it illegal for on-road use. So that rules out Stauns and weld on bead locks.
However, as hard as I try I can't get a comment on manufactured beadloc rims (ie Walker Evans). I can only guess that as they dont have an ADR approval then they are illegal as well

I run the stauns, have been for three years now, love 'em. Here in the us, they are not recognized by DOT, so are legal to run. They are a true double beadlock and can be installed in any wheel. I have never burst a tube, but only run a ten wide wheel. I have been talking to our us distributor and he says they have been having trouble with the wider sizes not setting in right and bursting.
I have run zero air at -50f and never lost a bead... that was a fun trip...

Im looking at getting 37s on a 10 inch rim ,The trails me and mates hit up are only 5 mins away from home so probably wouldnt matter anyway the cops would be more worried about the tyres and not quite legal yet lift

From what i remember of Sydney, the only guy who was engineering big tires was Werner from TIC and even he'd only go as far as 35's. I know of 3 trucks engineered and blue plated for 37's and they are not comp vehicles (not mogs either lol). One has Rear Steer Engineered as well..

a surf, a landrover and a Jeep and thinking about it i remember a GQ Patrol Ute running around on 40's all engineered.

Thats nuts i thought 33s were as big as you could legally go, i think ill go the stauns,i need an engineers certificate for heaps of stuff anyway,know any "good" engineers around newy i got chassis mods,tyres,brake mods engine conv and different seats
