strange sound from centre Dash area...

I have a tb42E with less than 150,000 kms. Around a month ago when the weather was cooler, around 7-10 degrees C, I started using the heater at night. And I am not sure if this is related to it or not, but now on coldstart, and revving to around 2000-3000rpm there is a strange sound. Best I can describe it as a kettle boiling, very weird, and it comes from the centre dash area. Note the noise occurs with the AC/heater off too.
Also tried re-creating the problem this morning with transfer in neutral and gearbox in 1st and neutral, the noise appears when revving past idle. The noise disappears after the engine has warmed up, until again when starting from cold.
