Door to door will make it ridiculously expensive.
The interstate thing (1800 Kms) is probably cheaper than the additional door to door at each end (XX Kms) if they have to organise tow trucks.
Finemores or Tolls does interstate car carrying.
If you can organise a "Trade" tow yourself, at each end to and from the freight hubs in the Capital cities, it may work out heaps cheaper.
A suggestion is to go talk to a Used Car dealer and see how they would do it.

I used to use a bloke called Alan. He runs his own business called Twin Cam Transport. I lost his number a couple of years ago but I'm sure he'd still be carrying cars around and if you can track him down he'll do a good price. He carries lots of exotics like the Porsche club of Aust.

there is a guy in Tullamarine ( C & A Towing ) who transports cars to Sydney from Melbourne on a regular basis
i have used him in the past & found them to be very reliable
as for getting it to Quensland you may need to try somebody like Tolls, i have used the RAPT service to freight a car from Queensland to Melbourne but it was done on mates rates
one thing most transport co's require is that the car must be driveable C&A was the only one i could find who transport Non Drivers
if you need a number let me know & i will see what i can find
regards

i used cartransport.com.au to ship a car from sydney to brisbane, door to door pick, mid last year for $480. I thought that was pretty good for door to door. i think it was $70 less for depot to depot. They have online quoting too.
