Dual Battery set-ups

Post by yo_stock »

How have you guys wired your second battery? Have you just put your accessories off it (fridge, rear camp lights etc) Or have you done a total re-wire, so you can have your cd player running, and just use your original battery for starter motor?

I am going to just use a solenoide, nothing to technical. But i want to have my radio on most of the night, as i have seen a few it looks like the radio is running on the standard battery, defeating the purpous of the second.

I have all of the standard fuse box running off the main battery as it came from the factory. Same with the starter motor and front 2 spotlights.

I then have all accessories (fridge, inverter, roof lights, camp lights) running off a aftermarket fuse box which is connected to the auxillary battery.

When you wire up an aftermarket cd player, you shouldn't use the power from the stock loom anyway, as the wire is as small as a bee's d!ck. Run some larger size cable from the aux fuse box while you're at it.

You might also want to wire the cd player on constantly so you don't have to have your key on 'acc'. ;) But thias way you have to turn it off manually, that's all.

If you don't have an amp and subs, I can't see a cd player flatening a decent battery for quite a while anyways.
