C4 C6 C9 conversion to LT230
Guys,
Who knows of a place that has done a C4 to LT230 conversion???
I want to put a C4 behind a Rover V8 and still run a LT230.
Anyone ?????

Hi clarkie about 2 years or so ago I found out about an engineering company doing a lot of land rover adapters and stuff in perth WA.
I sent them an email about an adapter for a c4/c9 to lt230 as I was looking at putting a windsor and c9 into a RR .
They were kind enough to give me a phone call over here in vic. I cannot remember the name of the co. They told me they don't make a kit for this but anything is possible.
It would have to be a one off and would probably cost $1200 to $1500 EA. that is per unit not a firm price though and would have to be an order of 2 of them and cheaper if they made several. As I didn't progress with the project I cannot remember who they were but they were very helpful. Maybe someone over in the west knows who they are. Hope this helps.
Cheers

Not 100% sure...but I think POS' buggy is running a C4 with an LT230. Maybe try a PM to StrangeRover or POS, or just call Haultech and ask them.sclarke7171 wrote:Guys,

I know that they already made an adaptor for T700 to LT230.
The reason i want to go to a LT230 is i have Maxi Low gears in a LT230...
Why a C4 over a ZF?
C4 Stronger and cheaper to rebuild.
ZF's are about $1k to buy 2nd hand and $3k-$4k to rebuild.
Thats the only reason..
Ohh i have a ZF, just looking at other options when the ZF dies...

M. Clarke,
You are roughly correct with the cost of auto rebuild. I had my new C4 (that turned out to be a C9 which is stronger) rebuillt for the grand sum of $850 by Colin at Tradematics in Geelong. It was more of a bulletproofing exercise and is still fantastic behind a 350 Chev some 50k km later.
I really wouldn't die in a ditch about the LT 230. If you go the (Ritters) LT 95 TC part you don't have to worry about changing TC mounts or driveshafts or gear lever positions. All stock holes/lengths.
You are very welcome to PM me to have a look/ drive of mine.

OK so a TF with Disco ratio's or county ratios in a LT230 would then be ok...cloughy wrote:TF's appear to suck so much Horspower in a Rangie because of the high range ratio, not so much the auto despite what every pecker believes
TF 1.003:1
ZF 1.22:1
Bit easier to get of the line with a 22% underdrive
Use a Torqueflite

Better, depending on gearing and tyre sizesclarke7171 wrote:OK so a TF with Disco ratio's or county ratios in a LT230 would then be ok...cloughy wrote:TF's appear to suck so much Horspower in a Rangie because of the high range ratio, not so much the auto despite what every pecker believes

Best way to overcome gearing issues is more Hp
Wanted: Car trailer or beaver tail truck, let me know what you got
Ironically I bought a TF727 for the 1:1 LT230 bolted to it.cloughy wrote:TF's appear to suck so much Horspower in a Rangie because of the high range ratio, not so much the auto despite what every pecker believes

I now have a TF727 with a 1.2:1 LT230 I don't need.
Shame about the freight, my TF727 (without LT230) is free for pickup.
i have a schuler with 308, tf and lt230, don't know much about these things. All i know is the 230 is out of a disco, it was fitted when the viscous transfer died.
It's just sitting around, come have a look if you wish, the rangie is in Silvan, just around the corner, keen to get rid of it, have receipts for a very recent rebuild.
pm if you are interested.
Cheers

Overkill in Oz or the USA??Strange Rover wrote:Overkill Engineering should be able to do the adapter. They have done a few C4s to LT230s now. We have done one but Overkill built the auto for us and modified the output shaft...we (Adrian) just made the adapter plate.
