22R dying, getting ready for 3rz conversion

G'day all,

Just after some general opinions and comments on this conversion.

I've got a 93 model 4runner, and after a recent trip to Eden from Melbourne, I realised that it is a little bit underpowered, having slowed down from 110 to 55 up some of the hills... not fun :(

I've decided to go a 3rz conversion, simply because it seems to have enough power for what I need, and should also be mannered enough to be driven everyday.

I've never driven a hilux with one of these engines, how are they to drive? ie. where do they make torque, what is the redline, to they need to be revved, etc... Oh, and how to they handle hills?

I don't have anything to tow yet, but may look at getting a camper in a couple of years, would this engine be capable of towing a camper?

Now onto the conversion, from what I've read it sounds like it simply bolts up to everything I have (G52 5 speed), except for the engine mounts... does this sound right? My plans were to either cut the chassis mounts off and move them to the correct location, or modify the 3rz engine mounts to fit onto the current chassis mounts... which would be easier? Or is it much of a muchness. Also would be using the fuel tank and lines from the donor hilux...

As I said, any opinions would be great.

Thanks guys :)
