GU III rear lights on a GU I

On my recently purchased GU series 1 I have replaced the rear lights with the newer type III lights, which have reverse and indicators on both sides.

I did this because the old lights were looking shit with scratches and filled with dust, and I reckon the newer lights look better.

Now I want to wire then up, has anyone done this? I would like to know if the factory loom supports this or will I have to feed my own wires from the indicators on the bumper.

When I did fit them I noticed that the old connector does not have the required pins but I am wondering how big-a-deal this is going to be.

I also snapped off the bottom lugs on both sides of the old lights! :x

Pretty sure most of the wiring is already there for you just need to connect it all up.
There is one wire that you will need to bring over from the other side.
Can't quite remember which one, it was some time ago I looked into doing this but don't have the GU any more.

do a search or ask on the patrol4x4.com forum. pretty sure I remember reading a writeup or some pics/info on this topic there.

The left side worked perfectly, indicator, reverse and brakes.
On the right side, no reverse and the indicator and brake both go off together, dimly, when using the indicator. I am going to the wreckers to get the connectors off a GU III adn see what I can do.

The link to Patrol 4x4 was very useful.
