Turbo drain hose

The turbo drain hose on my ute just died, what sort of hose is best suited for the job? When I was a full time tradie there was this hose called Ortac, red in colour, made by Dunlop, I think. Can you still get it? Is there something better the onsite Enzed guy can supply me? (he is the only hose supplier around here). Got a rough idea of what I need, but any suggestions will be considered. No crimped on ends involved, just cut to length & fit. Aftermarket watercooled Garret on Toyota 3L.
Regards Jaz.

Our enzed guy showed me some blue high temp oil hose he had, I think it was red on the inside, I'm not sure though.

a normal hi temp hose wont last. you need a silicon based hose. (used to work for enzed in brisbane) we never stocked it due to short lengths required for turbo return and the different sizes required. we always recommended tony powell hose supplies for that sort of stuff. try your enzed guy he might be able to source some for you.

if thats the silicon hose, be careful with it, it can go gummy with high heats like you get around turbos...

your best bet is getting a solid line manufactured with a rumpled zone in it to allow for vibrations and movements.

the hard part is getting a "rubber" hose to fit onto the fittings on either end of the turbo because the types of hose suitable for the job are usually stiff as fuck, so if its slightly out of round your gonna have dramas getting it to seal.

I think the hose you are talking about mrw82 is called Purosil. Very good for cooling systems with ethylene glycol content but not good for oil. Ortac is the go, but do not know if still available. Any old Cummins mechanics around? Used to use it on big cam turbo engines.

I just use hydraulic hose. 1ft from any hydraulic hose store. It'll last near forever, just spiky as wire reinforced internally (not wire outside). You know it's oil and heat stable. Goes hard over 4-5 years, big deal.

It doesn't need to be silicon. Any oil/fuel hose will last as long as the other rubber hoses in your engine bay. I've even got two years out of heater hose.

I should have noted - the Hydraulic hose will cost you about $5, and possibly another $5 for them to walk out the back and cut it if they don't ahve an offcut.
