LS1 vs SB chev bolt patterns

Post by killalux »

hey,
Is there any difference between the old small block chev and the LS1 gearbox bolt patterns. I believe the crankshaft bolt pattern and spacing is different though.

I am doing a gen 3 to 80 series auto conversion, and castlemaine do a adapter plate for chev to this auto, i want to know if i can use this plate and make my own crankshaft adapter for the torque convertor.

marks adapter do a kit but at $1275 seems a bit steep.

I do not believe you can use a SBC adapter as the LS1 crank protrusion at rear is different. Looked at that myself want to do the exact same conversion. One answer would be to go Auto and run a 4L65E auto saves speed senser issues, no need to put spacer or offset flywheel and the adapter for Auto to transfer is cheaper. Wholesale Automatics in Bayswater Vic sell complete kits.
