Are ventilated disks a lot better?

Got a newer parts rocky that came out with ventilated disks. And mine's older, so it didn't. Just wondering if its worth stuffing around changing calipers for the benefit of the newer tech brakes? Going to be replacing the disks soon anyway, its just a matter of which type.

Ventilated discs heat up and cool down quicker than solids, meaning pads reach operating temp quicker so better braking. They are also better for extended use because of their better cooling.
If you need to replace your solid discs anyway, go the ventilated.
You will probably need to change the calipers too as ventilated are up to three times thicker than solids.

Just get the slotted disks, the ones with the grove on the disk, not cross drilled.
The hole fills up with mud, dirt etc, the water what ever is dried out and your pads will get chewed out quicker.
That doesn't happen with slotted disks as the slot carries the dirt away from the pad surface.

Quick answer YES.
Even the slots aren't really necessary for a 4x4. Good tech on Brakes on Pirate if you want a read.

He is comparing ventilated and solid rotors, not slotted and/or cross drilled. They were both a factory option on his model, and has an opportunity to swap them over.

Go the Vented,
My sierra needed new pads and discs,
Did some research and fount that the ventilated Vit ones fitted with the vit calipers.
Now I dont get any brake fade when in the bush or back street driving.
Plus the Zook
almost does endo's now.
