Hilux rear diff leaking oil

Post by BENOLUX »

Hilux rear diff leaking oil, im guessing it is the pinion seal but i thought id ask before i go ahead and diagnos it. there is oil leaking all over the diff pumkin, it has covered the bottom of the diff housing and u can see where it is spraying little bits over the underbelly of the truck.

is this the pinion?

It sounds like the pinion seal, but if you want to know 100% for sure, degrease the whole diff and drive it until you can see where its coming from. Also, check your diff breather as it may be blocked and forcing oil out the seals.
