H150F Tranny

Anyone know about the H150F transmission or H151F? I heard they are pretty strong and that one was even put behind the 4.7 liter engine. I want to see if it would be possible to swap one of these into a 4runner. Any info would be great.

Very strong, especially 5th gear.
Will bolt up to the 4.7 or 4 litre 1uzfe with a 1fzfe toyota bellhousing with a few small mods, or buy a new bell from a v8 cruiser as they still use the h151.

The H series is a big mother and it could be a tight fit under a 4Runner without a big body lift
Why not use the R series as they are very strong.
The first pic is a H151F behind a 1HZ diesel I sent to the US and the second a H150F.

Are these boxes at all similar to the R series? The codes are very similar, what is the difference?

I want to try and swap in a 4.7 with an H150F into my 4runner. I have a 3" body lift so maybe it could fit. Where could I get a hold of a 4.7 with a tranny?

Hi the 100 series 1hz diesel comes with the r150 box from a prado, and they are not as strong, it is common for them to fall ap[part at 150000kms on the 100 with a few accessories and possibly turbo.
They shift good though!

read that entire thread and must say very informative but what i want to know is does the W56/7/8 box use the same bellhousing bolt pattern(b/housing to box) as the G52 box are they an identical box and just a straight swap

Short answer is yes, same bell pattern.

Not in the US
as you have no 5 speeds. The Oz 4.7 uses the H151F and it would be available from wreckers but my guess is it wouldn't be cheap.
But the 4.7 in a 4Runner is a tight fit and cooling could be an issue as there is no space to run a normal fan unless you hack into the front grill area.
You can get a 4.7 in the US but Dellows in Oz make a bell to fit the R series to a 4.7 which means you only need to get this kit as you have R series trans.
I have been running an R series behind my 260kw HO in my 4runner for 4 years with no problems whatsoever.

So if I put a Landcruiser R151 manual tranny in my 4runner, could I use a 9" Landcruiser rear axle with the offset diff? I would think that since the R151F is in the Landcruisers that it would have an offset ouput on the back of the tranny to match the offset rear axle, right?

The offset you are referring to relates to the transfer output.
Someone may know if the R151 used in the Oz current cruisers is also mated to an offset transfer but I will check next time I pass a dealers.

So all that I need to run the offset axle is an offset transfercase from a Landcruiser?

The R151 is mated to an offset transfer in the landcruisers. It is mated to a centered transfer in Hiluxes and 4Runners. Saved you a trip to the dealer, LOL.

The R151 was sold in the States behind the Turbo (22RET) Toy 4x4. No need to go too far. And you get a centered gear driven transfer case in the deal. There, I saved you a trip and from needing an offset rear axle
