So I bought a Haflinger

So I bought a Haflinger
Have liked one for a while.... factory portals and diff locks, no low range but 1st gear crawler of about 65:1.
This is the long wheel base model (180cm)
A few fix-it tasks like brakes before I can take it for a proper test drive and then a complete resto.
cheers

Yes. One of the ebay ones last month... this guy near Bungendore sold two. My one and the bug-eyed one below...
Some guy from Italy (some people are keen) was bidding on that one but he missed out to someone in Sydney.
There was another one in pieces near Port Macquarie listed at the same time.
Hadn't seen any on ebay etc for a couple of years. Cheers.

There was a documentary probably 18 years ago called "Call of the wild" where 2 blokes had a nice big catamaran and a haflinger and toured up through the cape and to thursday island. They too fitted bobcat tyres and had difflocks, it was awesome.
Its the best doco i have ever seen but i cant find it anywhere.... http://www.afc.gov.au/filmsandawards/fi ... +Adventure

I use to have one years ago and the top speed was 48 mph on the plate inside the cab, apparently there were two different ratio's for them and also if your chasing some rims of memory i used fiat 124 or around that era as they have the same stud pattern. I hope you enjoy your new toy i know i did.mattc wrote:Yeah top speed 55km/h in 5th!
Been wondering what offroad tyres I can get for a skinny 12" rim.....
Someone else has discovered 5.70-12 bobcat tyres!
WAS THAT WITH aLBY mANGEL AND ONE OF HIS MATES. Who knows? I think I remember them using a duck punt too to carry it over some deep and rough water and then when on the hard stuff put the punt on the rof of the haff. There was a documentary probably 18 years ago called "Call of the wild" where 2 blokes had a nice big catamaran and a haflinger and toured up through the cape and to thursday island. Anyone see what the ones on ebay went for earlier in the year.
I have one in excellent condition that i'm thinking of selling, but am keen to get an idea of what it's worth before I decide whether to sell it or not....
Cheers,
Tazz
