Outer Limits 4x4 Board

Hi all,

Just got a OME lift in the vit see here

Now i need a alignment and possibly a camber adjustment kit.
I have decided on K-mac's part number 120116 E $88 repco price
Anyone know of an installer in Perth who can check alignment and fit the kit if necessary. I would try the install myself but it looks like the brakeline brackets on either side of the strut flange might get in the way of the k-mac brackets and i dont want to butcher my new struts.

You don't need camber bolts to fix the camber they can elongate the hole to fix the camber.

Well. After calling around the results are in.
Spindle hole elongation not recommended as the only thing keeping your camber set correctly is the force of the strut flange holding the spindle in place.
Wilkinsons have their own undersize bolt replacement (same pedders)
Greenwood Tyre and Exhaust dont do K-mac either
Wheels World do, but not often and I could not arrange to get to them before my easter trip.

Soooo, Im getting a set of K-macs this arvo ($88 repco) and am going to attempt the install.

I'll be interested to see how you go with the Kmacs. I've been thinking about installing a set on my XL-7 as they seem to be the best design by far (but hardest to install.)

I am a bit hesitant on fitting them to my Koni struts....

Yep, thats almost them. Some of the pics on that site look to be for a different kit but these are the closest.





My kit did not have the sleeve in the middle and the cam washer (2nd from left) was welded to the bolt head.

Fitted them last night (5.30pm to 8.30pm). Zook steers like Michael Schumacher's F1 rather than like the billy cart i had when i was a kid.

There were a couple of spots where i split from the instructions and I had to grind off the spare brakeline bracket that the OME strut has but if you know enough to remove a strut then you can probably DIY the bolts.

As soon as I get my act together I'll scan and post the K-mac install booklet.

Forget about doing it with the strut in the car. Check all the clearances, ie where your brake lines are and which side will you put the K-mac bracket on (3rd from the left) then take the strut out and work on a decent bench. The machining bit that K-mac supply is ok until you get almost all the way through the strut flange but gets a bit sloppy as it breaks through. Much better off swapping to a die grinder or similar at that point. Also doing the drilling on a bench drill (if you have access) with the strut immobilised, this would make it much easier. I will try and obtain either/both tools before attempting again.

Also take your time and use plenty of cutting oil to help keep the temp down.

When fitting the bolt make sure to have the slotted washer (5th from left) sitting so that the long side is horizontal. turning the bolt through 360 a couple of times while everything was still a little loose helped to bring every thing into alignment and showed that the adjustment was happening.

Apart from that it is fairly straight foward.
