Ok so i have got a new shorty 40 and i have chucked some 45 rear leaves in the back of it but my problem now is that the extended shackels are now sitting way to flat........What do i do ti get a better angle.

*Note i did not move the mounts to accommodate the longer leaves*

Should I :
A) Spin the rear mounts around therefore gaining about 4 1/2"
B) Lenghthen the shackles
C) Shorten the shackles
D) Any other suggestions

im pretty sure by A, he means that remocing the spring and pointing the rear towards the front, as the locating pin isnt in the centre of the arch of the spring, im sure Dan did this mod on his 40 to run the swampers.

That will move your diff back a few inches but it wont affect your shackle angle (as the spring remains a constant length)

I think he means tuning the rear upper mount 180 degrees. This will move the mounting point backa few inches.

Adam,

Angle on your shackle is good for down travel. I am not too sure what affect too much angle will have on the way your rig drives (but you will have mad droop  )

If you want less angle on your shackle just cut your rear mount off and move it back a couple of inches.

You may aswell move the front back a couple of inches aswell for better wheelbase ;) And if you want a couple more inches flip your rear springs (as Ozy1 suggested) - for this you will need to rotate your perches a few degrees or run a wedge to correct your pinion angle)

If you move the front diff forward a bit (do a SR at the same time ;) ) you should be looking at about 100" wheelbase. I am currently at about 101"

I think this is where your problems start... the 45 landed on it's lid, what makes you think this won't happen too a SWB :D

I thought you could have taken the opportunity to 3/4 the back - that way you could put the shackle back as far as is required, gain the extra wheel base, and a stack more droop too.
