whats are good conversion for a 75 series or 80 series. It doesnt have to be a conversion as such. just what engine would be good to put into both.

it will have to be a diesel, preferably turbo diesel.

what do you think, and at what cost?

Good Thread idea,

Is there any reason why everyone is recommending the 1HD-FTE over the 1HDT that also came out in the 80 series ?

I'm trying to decide on an motor to suit the 60 and i was thinking the 1HDT would be a good choice, i know the 1HD-FTE would be better at the end of the day. Could someone explain the differences?

was speaking to guy yesterday with among other bullshit mods to his 75 series, he had a 6.5L Chev Diesel V8. Was a beast of a car though, sounded good too :twisted:

Differences are:
F = four valves per hole (24v total).
E = electronicly controlled injeciton.

There's a IHD-FT used in later model 80 series which doesn't have the electronic control and would be easier to retrofit.
I also haven't heard of big end bearing issues with the FT or FTE versions.

The chev's don't have a good reputation for block strength at stock power levels. Sounds like the US army replace engines instead of replacing the oil in them.
Being indirect injection they'll drink more than everything else too.
