at the moment i have everything running off one battery which includes lights and winch im asking what should be on what battery im using the pirahna 180amp system i was thinking winch on the main battery and starter and lights etc on second bat will there be a prob with this?

as i have a main feed at the moment going into the cab at which point all the lights efi thermos etc run off this point and i don't want to pull it all apart

or can just leave everything on the main bat and nothing on the second bat? in this case when the main bat gets low when using winch lights etc all at once will it draw power from the second?

According to Piranha you should run everything you have mentioned off the main battery, you could connect the winch to the second battery, but you would want to put a manual override "switch" in parallel with the Piranha system to be able to use the full A/H of your batteries for winching.

The simple rule of thumb is, all devices used only while the motor is running should be connected to the main battery ( no matter what brand of DBS you have ) and all devices needing power while the motor is off ( fridge and so on ) should be connected to the auxiliary battery.

Although the winch will pull the voltage down while it is in use, by keeping the cable run between the alternator and cranking battery to the winch as short as possible, the less voltage drop that will occur and therefore the better the winch will run.

Cheers.
