Ive just completed a rebuild on a gearbox and some of the switches on it are stuffed.
what do each switch do and which ones are N/O and which ones are N/C.
are they even needed? i dont run a sierra carby anymore .
thanx

You can get away without the '4th' and '5th' switches. You only really need the reverse switch, which is N/O.

ok i figured it out.
there are 4 switches on this gearbox.
4th and 5th switches
neutral switch and reverse switch.
4th 5th and reverse are N/O
nuetral is N/C
switch on top is 4th
front side is reverse(45*)
ctr switch is nuetral (90*)
and back is 5th (45*)
hope that makes sense

The "4wd" switch was stuffed in my transfer case on my Feroza and there was nil dash warning light illumination. I removed it from the transfer case and then liberally sprayed some CFC Cleaner into it (carby cleaner or anything similar would do) via the gap around the switch plunger. Then I set about operating the plunger manually over it's full travel repeatedly.....

..... after a LOT of pushes it came back to life. I then sprayed Silicone spray into it, worked that in, drained out the excess and refitted it.
After refitting it was working fine a couple of months later (when I sold it.)
Trying the above might save you some money? The contacts inside usually just get a build up of crud on them.

i had spare switches from a different box. mine were stuffed as they had worn down to nothing. was nothing left to get pushed by the gear selectors..
gotta get some kms into the box as the new bearings are a little tight and need to be run in b4 takin bush..
