Can i use std shocks with a 2" spring lift

Can I use standard Shocks with a 2 " spring lift or do I need longer shocks?

Yes, but you wont get the full benifit of having the onger springs.

and the standard shocks are very short and limit travel a fair bit

Don't waste your time, get the lot in one hit. It might cost more, but it's less work and mucking around later on, especially the front.

Compare the free heights of the springs. I tend to think that a lot of commercial 2" lifts gain the lift by fitting springs that are similar in free length but stiffer in rate. If this is the case then the stocker springs will be fine assuming they still work well. I would expect the aftermarket units for those springs may have a bit more stiffness in rebound.
If the springs are longer then just change the shocks. Rears are easy, fronts are a PITA.

I stuill thiink that Rangie Spares have the best range of springs available for Rangies.
Lots of commercial kits like you said have taller, but stiffer springs. Good if you do lots of outback travelling, but make the Rangie too stiff on-road!!
