Outer Limits 4x4 Board

I have just purchased a set of Q78's for the fourby and also some bead lock rims. and have been looking at all of these things about balancing the wheels correctly. Does any one use any of these system's? or should i use the old methord and get them balanced

what are some other ones that people have used......

I got my 35" simexes on beadlocked rims balanced kinda using stick on weights. One needed almost 800g. It got about 400. Wobble like all shit at around 60k's on a GQ.

I'd be very interested to know also if these balancing compounds really work too. And what are they like after deflation, reinflation, 4wheeling, etc...

2 golf balls or a handfull of ballbearings inside the tire.. sounds cool when you pull up at the lights and the balls hit the rims

Yeah, full on death wobbles. Mainly in the 50-60kmh range, which is a bugger when driving in traffic and you're trying to 'fit-in' all non-conspicuous-like in a jacked up dinted patrol with 35" simexes that sound like a b27 bomber headed for Hiroshima, and even worse still on the way home covered in crap.

All our truck tyres have some sort of sand put into them before they are fitted, supposed to be good stuff. Works for when chunks are taken out of tyres, become scalloped around the edges that sort of thing.

I had the exact probs as you. 36pede @ 45-60kph.

The stuff I used is called 'equal' and was about $7 a bag (1 per tyre) if i recall.

should be able to buy it at any truck tyre place. pop your bead, just chuck the bag in, reseat bead & off you go

i know a guy who has that auto balance powder stuff in his tires..
every time he goes to air down he always gets shit stuck in the valves and looses all the air in the tire
funniest time was when he was doing driver training and showing the new guys how to air down

I am running a similar thing in 31s. Sometimes around 60kph it can get the shakes. But when the stuff gets moving around the tyre you won’t beat it. You can take on logs and roundabouts and not worry about needing to balance the barstards, ever. I will use it again for sure

That's the stuff our Bridgestone guys use, forgot it's name earlier.

Have a mate with this in his 39 x 18 boggers on 15 x 12 beadlocked rims.

The boggers run true and dont wobble once your doing over about 15k/hr.

Not sure what brand he is running, picked it up from the local truck tyre fitter, but seems to work well enough.

I might give it a go. Now where's a cheap place to get it from. $110 for 4x35's from autobalance sounds a bit rich to me.

I had Pro Comp in Narre Warren balance my Swampers with it. The price was the same for lead weights or this so I thought I'd give it a try.

And how's the balance? Is it ok? Have you aired down and refilled, been wheelin, etc?

I got mine balanced for $40 with weights but they're not that flash. I don't want to pay $110 for a set of tyres that see minimal asphalt action though.

Haven't wheeled on them yet but I have aired down and they were fine.

you can get special valve stems that have mesh or something to stop the stuff from getting in your valves. Never had the prob to worry about it though
