considering SAS if i ever get off my arse and finish fixing my timing belt

the reason im thinking this is,
the panels are already dented and scratched..
i already own the car..
it already has 5.29s,BL,factory rear locker and some other goodies.
im familiar with the car
it would be different

BUT
the things against are,
wheelbase
rear doesnt flex as well as my patrol
its only a 2.5

im trying to decide do i fix it and just use it for occasional wheeling and towing the boats and bike around?

OR

my other option is to buy a GQ
exo or internal
40s or bigger
twin locked
gears
etc etc etc...

really atm my biggest concern is the wheelbase of the shorty.
and also overall cost involved..

after buying a $500 twin locked zook i decided i need something that i can take out on the trails and not worry about damage (too expensive if i roll the GU  )
and get into comp too.

thoughts people??

If you were going to go to all that trouble then it would hardly be any more trouble to extend the wheelbase. To go much higher to get bigger tyres under it you will urn into issues with rear driveshaft angles anyway....

Do it and take pic's......

but i could only extend the wheelbase so much before it gets too much work..

i wouldnt be too worried about cutting the guards to fit bigger rubber but i doubt id be able to fit some 40s under it whereas the GQ would be a lot easier

if your wanting 40s and up anything is going to require alot of work.either way i see lots of work and you mentioned being differant and familiar with it... not much more work with all the other stuff you plan to do. no doubt if you do the safari you will want to put a bigger mtr in it, so why not change the motor in the paj?

i see it being almost the same amount of work. just do the paj. you already have it .

if im starting with a 95inch wheelbase with the IFS then 100inch wouldnt be too hard to acheive? move the rear diff back a little and move the front forward to 100inch??

a shorty j-top could be on the comp scene
