OME shocks suited to the 2 inch OME Springs will not be long enough with 2 inch shackles. The fronts restrict droop by about 3 inchs with standard 2 inch front OME springs and the rear I haven't measured but are doing the same thing.

search and check for options there's a massive thread on shocks for a 2 inch lift and shackles.

OME are only sold by ARB and their distributers so therefore there will be very little variation in price. They are a very good quality product IMO and you pay for quality. If you want a decent shock that is a bit cheaper I'd go procomps, thats the way I went. Get your lift and shackles set up, flex it up with no shocks and measure the length required then go to a stockist and look up the catelogue to get a shock that is the correct length (both droop and compression) for your application. I got a set of four procomps for $190 but its who you know.

OME shocks have been $127 forever, I'm not surprised they have gone up. They were $110 a shock in 1992....

Anyway, back to your problem. OME shocks are designed for OME springs. If you extend the shackles, they are too short. Fitting usefully longer shocks is not possible without modifications to mounts and or bumpstops.
Have a read of this - it will help you understand what you are working with.

anyway, Bornstar, If you laughed at the guy at $148 a shock, what were you expecting to pay?

Steve.

You laugh in the guys face even though you had no idea what the price should have been?

Also, I think procomps as mentioned before may be a bit to big/stiff of a shock for a sierra application.

so you didn't actually know if the price was over priced or not and yet laughed in his face. great way to deal with someone.

Have you actually done any research on this yourself. Have you rung other suppliers, looked on their websites, doe a search on here etc etc. To just go into a dealer get a price and laugh at them is just plain rude and a bit ignorant if you have no idea of prices in the first place

yes i asked my local mechanic about the options and he said i shuold be able ot get out of it for around 70 dollars a shock and i went to arb thinking around that price but i never thought 148 dollars thats why i laughed and jsut to clear my name up i didnt make it out to him that i was being rude rather that i was shocked. but i am thinking of going with the commodore hilux-hiace shocks and the bumpstop spacers seems like the cheapest option

Cheap is not neccesarily the good/best option.

In saying that I have read that some people get the desired results from that setup. Depends what you are after.
