Strut tower failure.

I posted this in the Zook forum, but I really need some feedback asap, so please forgive me for double posting.

I hit a pothole in my 96 coil zook fairly severely today, and forced my shock up through the top of the strut tower. It has torn the top of the tower completely open.

I would like to hear from anyone else that has done this and would love to hear how you went about repairing it.

Cheers all, Wellsey.

do they run a pillow ball mount like a commonwhore?

sounds like what commodores do when the rubber in the mount perishes and you hit a big bump.

if so you should just be able to replace the pillow ball mount and reassemble

Shock has bottomed out...so either your shocks are too long or your bumpstops arnt working.

i guess it looks like this

anyway they crack over time and then some of them break through like that, all i did was basically cut out the old section and weld a new peice of thicker plater in there and had no problems afterwoulds. Some of them even get a little rusty in there and break out.

your lucky when mine broke i was going over a hump at landcruiser park and somehow my strut went forward and my spring fell out lol
